The rich history and acclaimed career of Anshel Brusilow provide a superb backdrop for his engaging personality. Whether he is reminiscing on his career or relationships with some of the outstanding artists he's known, or just discussing playing, auditioning or music in general, you can be assured of a memorable experience that will captivate audiences and leave them wanting more.
Anshel Brusilow has been privileged to perform as guest conductor with many of the world's great orchestras. These include the Philadelphia Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony, the Washington National Symphony, the Scottish National Symphony, the Mexican National Symphony, the Seoul Philharmonic, the University of Southern California Orchestra and the Curtis Institute of Music.
The Maestro is featured on recordings with the London Symphony and the English Chamber Orchestra. He has also frequently recorded with the Philadelphia Orchestra, most notably including Richard Strauss Ein Heldenleben, Thus Spake Zarathustra, and Rimsky-Korsakow's Sheherezade.
The Maestro has taught master classes at the University and Professional level for prestigious organizations such as the Mannheim School of Music in Heidelberg, Germany, Yale University, and the University of Alabama.
Master Classes will usually last 3-5 days and generally include works the musicians are already preparing. The music can be worked on with the student conductors, the orchestra, and soloists, with the goal of preparing the works for their repertoire or concert performance.
Conducting classes largely cover how to approach a score, how to rehearse, what not to do, score reading, composers and their intent, and how to add a personal interpretation.
Performances are scalable, and can either focus on the entire orchestra, or specific sections (woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion) depending on which portion of the orchestra might benefit the most.
Work with individual students will commonly focus on their instrument, the technical aspects of their performance, their interpretations of the piece and other considerations to think about when approaching the music (in addition to their conductor.) Classes can be adjusted to the performer's talent and work with individual players.
If appropriate, class discussions may also include auditions for orchestral positions and how to make the best impression as a performer and as an individual.
Maestro Brusilow also offers Orchestral Relations Counseling. At the base level, this includes work with the orchestra and conductor and soloists, helping them understand what it takes to put a performance on stage. However, Brusilow's expertise also includes consulting at a community level, offering insight on relationships between the orchestra and board of directors, public relations, fundraising and community involvement.
